Psalm 119:11-Memory verse for ?

Greetings one and all! (Yes, the time stamp is correct. This is what the crack of dawn looks like for those of you who have never seen it!)

I worded the subject as it is because I don't know how often I am going to send these out. I want everyone to get the maximum benefit from this, not because I'm banging them over the head with it, but because they want to draw closer to God. Becky and I were talking about the types of verses I was going to send out on the way home from group Tuesday night. I know that everyone needs an encouraging word now and then, and when the Spirit moves me to do so, I will put that kind of verse our for your pleasure.

However, probably a majority of the verses that I am going to end up giving to you are going to be ones that you can take and memorize and hit the enemy over the head with WHEN he comes a callin'. Don't be skeered! The bible says we have an enemy! And if you look in Job, you will see in his own words that he walks to and fro on the earth (Job 1:7). He's looking for us, and if we don't look to God for protection, AND look out for each other, we will be easy prey. That's not to say that we won't have setbacks or trials, but that we can look to Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith. (Heb 12:2)

Anyway, the verse we are going to work on now, is one that lays the foundation for this whole endeavor. It gives us the reason WHY God put this on the heart of our church to have someone to do just this-encourage others to learn Scripture.

Psalm 119:11- "Your word I have hidden in my heart that I might not sin against you." (NKJV)

Look at this. David is saying that he has hidden God's word away in his heart (memorization), so that he won't sin. That's an awesome testament to the power of God. You're not doing this because of me, or because the church decided this was a good thing to do. You are doing it so that God's Word will help you NOT TO SIN!

Be blessed today and allow God's word to fill your heart to overflowing!

P.S. I am NOT expecting everyone to memorize this in the same Bible version. I don't care what version of the Bible you use, because everyone in our group may have their own preference. The purpose is not to promote one over the other; it's to get you INTO THE WORD and allow the Word INTO YOUR HEART! Get it from whatever version God speaks to YOU from, not me!
